Short Pump is getting a Shake Shack.
The New York-based burger chain is preparing to open a new location at West Village, a mixed-use development that’s under construction at 12170 W. Broad St.
A Shake Shack spokeswoman confirmed the company’s plans for the Short Pump outpost, which will be its third in the Richmond area.
The publicly traded burger chain has more than 500 locations worldwide and has been on an expansion kick in recent years. It first came to the Richmond area in 2022 with a location at the Willow Place shopping center and added a second in Midlothian near Chesterfield Towne Center earlier this year.
The spokeswoman said Shake Shack does not yet have a specific opening timeline for the Short Pump location.
Work on West Village’s residential section is underway.
West Village is located at the northwest corner of Broad Street and Gayton Road. It’s being developed by Rebkee Co. and Roka Partners, two local firms led by brothers Dan and Rob Hargett, respectively.
Some of West Village’s commercial buildings are already complete, including one that houses a new Fink’s Jewelers store. Steakhouse chain Fleming’s is also signed on to open a restaurant at the development. Work is also underway on 100 two-over-two condominiums from Stanley Martin Homes at West Village’s northern end.
It’s been a busy fall for Short Pump’s dining scene. EAT Restaurant Partners is planning a new, mystery restaurant across from West Village at GreenGate, and a few new-to-market chains have signed on to open in Short Pump, including Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls and Dave’s Hot Chicken.
